MEET THE PRINCIPAL
Founder & Principal
Building Communities. Strengthening Neighborhoods. Creating Opportunity.
Sauda Ahmad-Green, Esq., is Founder and Principal of S&S Development Group, LLC, a Detroit-based real estate development company specializing in mixed-income housing, affordable housing finance, sustainable development, and neighborhood revitalization. Over nearly two decades, she has led the transformation of underutilized properties into vibrant residential communities while advancing innovative solutions that improve affordability, strengthen neighborhoods, and create lasting economic opportunity.
A native Detroiter and licensed Michigan attorney, Ahmad-Green founded S&S Development Group in 2005 with the vision of reinvesting in neighborhoods through thoughtful, community-centered development. Her work reflects a deep understanding that successful redevelopment extends beyond constructing buildings — it requires creating places where residents can thrive while preserving community identity and expanding access to quality housing.
Her signature development, the Merrill Place neighborhood revitalization initiative, exemplifies this philosophy. Beginning with the rehabilitation of Merrill Place I, Ahmad-Green transformed a long-vacant property into quality townhomes before undertaking Merrill Place II, a $12 million mixed-income multifamily community completed in 2026. Located in Detroit’s historic Virginia Park neighborhood, where she was raised, the development provides high-quality housing while incorporating geothermal technology that eliminates heating and cooling costs for residents — an innovative approach that demonstrates how environmental sustainability can directly improve housing affordability.
Ahmad-Green has become known for successfully structuring complex public-private financing involving Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, municipal and state funding, community development financial institutions, private investment, renewable energy incentives, and innovative tax credit strategies. Her developments illustrate how layered financing and creative problem-solving can expand housing opportunities while maintaining long-term financial sustainability.
In addition to her development work, Ahmad-Green serves as a licensed attorney, providing a unique combination of legal, financial, and development expertise that allows her to guide projects from acquisition through stabilization. Her multidisciplinary background enables her to navigate the complex legal, regulatory, financing, and construction issues associated with large-scale real estate development.
RECOGNITION
Her leadership has earned recognition from Crain’s Detroit Business, the Detroit Free Press, FOX 2 Detroit, Model D, and numerous civic organizations. In 2026, Merrill Place II attracted national attention when former Vice President Kamala Harris visited the development to discuss affordable housing, sustainable building practices, and the financing challenges facing community developers.
Today, Ahmad-Green continues expanding the Merrill Place neighborhood redevelopment initiative while leading new mixed-income and sustainable housing developments throughout Detroit. Through every project, she remains committed to proving that equitable development can strengthen neighborhoods, improve quality of life, and create enduring community wealth for future generations.
